About Me

Hi! My name is Kate. In 2016, I enrolled in a once-weekly Kempo Jiujitsu class. It was once beyond me to fathom how I’d ever get through two 60 minute classes in a week. Now I’m going to three Kempo classes and one HITS class a week, have survived Kempo Camp, and am on track to earn my black belt before my 50th birthday.

This journey has positively affected my entire life. I’m more physically active than ever, and am always looking for new ways to help me to my rank goal; a journey I’ve dubbed The Road to Black Belt.

In addition to pushing myself physically, I’ve been exploring my emotional and mental health as well. I’ve enrolled in new training courses to broaden my career path, and I’ve been working hard on being honest with my emotional well-being (which is hard AF, you guys).

My main goal with this blog is to let others know that they aren’t alone in their struggles, and to celebrate each victory, large and small.
